CHAPTER TWELVE

Hope was getting tired of changing and ending up lying in the dirt. She stood and brushed off, twisting to make sure she was clean. Hope stilled when she heard Ari growl. Peeking at him, wetness gathered between her legs.

Ari stood, gazing at her, nostrils flared and with an intense look in his eyes. “Now that we are alone.” Ari’s voice was rough, laced with lust. “I think I need you again.”

Hope thrilled at the tone of his voice. She stepped toward him, drawn by the look in his eyes. Hope seemed to have no will power where Ari was concerned.

“Don’t even think about it!” Crag shouted over at them, startling Hope and making Ari grin. “If you want to head home, Hope, we can’t have you lay around all day with Ari between your legs!”

Hope blushed furiously, hiding her face in Ari’s chest.

Ari growled at Crag, who ignored both of their reactions. “Mind your own business,” Ari yelled back.

“Yeah, yeah. If we don’t get going, we’ll be here another night. If you can’t get her dressed, I will.” Hope heard Crag walk off.

Ari sighed and lifted Hope’s face up. “Much as I don’t want to admit it, he’s right.” Ari leaned over and kissed Hope. “Let’s see how the dragon skin will work.”

Ari leaned over and pulled out the dragon skin. Rummaging a little more, he pulled out the needle and thread she had used to repair her pants.

Hope sucked in her breath at the sight of the dragon skin. It was beautiful.

“Ari, is that yours? It must be, look at the color. It’s beautiful.” Hope could swear Ari blushed. It was hard to tell, his skin was naturally darker hued than hers. She reached out to touch it. “It’s so soft.”

Ari grinned crookedly and placed it against Hope. “You’ll look beautiful wearing it.” Ari smiled at her, all teeth, almost scary. “I think I like the idea of you wearing my skin.” He rubbed his face against Hope’s neck and drew in a breath. “You carry my scent now so I think it’s appropriate.”

Hope shivered. Ari was lethal.

“Let me see it.” Hope pulled it out of Ari’s hands. “Ari, this will be heaven to wear.” Hope twisted it around, checking it out and frowned. “Ari, this has no seams. It might be really easy to sew so that I can wear it.”

Ari peered at the skin. “What do you mean?”

“It has no seams.” Hope tried not to sound impatient. She didn’t know how to say it any better. “The skin can be slipped right over my head. I’ll have to trim it, but I think with a bit of cutting and sewing, I can make this into a dress.” Hope slipped the skin over her head and wriggled around, pulling it down. “See? If I just cut out spots for my arms and sew it across the shoulders, instant dress.”

Hope ran her hands along her sides. She savored the soft silkiness of the skin beneath her fingers. When she thought about the fact that it was Ari’s, heat flared inside.
